Operation Spare Tire continues.
The Beck and Thunder Ranch Spyders have a somewhat simplified chassis and one innovation is a removable cross brace between the shock towers. It keeps the shock tower from leaning out on hard turns and crosses right about where the spare tire needs to be. Until this morning I figured I’d just use a piece of C channel braced through the same holes that the shocks mount from, along with secondary trianglular ties to the original, higher mount to make it stronger than the original bar.
But when I started building the triangle this morning, and really looking at what I was doing, and feeling the weight of all that kludge, I changed my mind.
OK I’m definitely going to re-do that weld.
